Child support is a vital tool for providing income to children living in poverty. But the system can be punitive, requiring noncustodial parents with low earnings to pay unrealistically high levels of support.
In this webinar, Partnership member and sociologist Kathryn Edin and director of the San Francisco Department of Child Support Services Karen Roye will discuss the potential impact of reforms put forward in Transforming Child Support into a Family-Building System.
Speakers
Kathryn Edin, Member, US Partnership on Mobility from Poverty; Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, Princeton University
Karen Roye, Director, San Francisco Department of Child Support Services
Nisha Patel, Executive Director, US Partnership on Mobility from Poverty
