During seven years as chancellor of City Colleges of Chicago, Partnership member Cheryl Hyman led a reform effort called "Reinvention" that doubled the community college system's graduation rate. She explains how in a forthcoming book, Reinvention: The Promise and Challenge of Transforming a Community College System. One goal of Reinvention was smoothing the path from a community college education to middle-class jobs, a topic Hyman discussed during a Partnership webinar last year. A recording of the webinar is available here. She is also co-author of an idea paper under the Partnership's strategy to create good jobs, Stepping on the Gas: Community Colleges as Engines of Economic Mobility.
